We’ve driven (and enjoyed) Lotus’ mid-engined, four-seat Evora in the past, but we’ve just caught our first glimpse of its more powerful iteration, the Evora S, in the U.S., following its Paris debut.
Packing a supercharged version of the standard Evora’s 3.5-liter V-6 engine, the Evora S boasts 345 hp to the standard car’s 274 – good for a 0-60 mph sprint of just 4.6 seconds. Of course, other changes have been made to the Evora platform to cope with the extra go. The suspension has been treated to a retune, brake discs are now cross-drilled and new wheels are also part of the package. New to the Evora is a sport button which is said to deliver quicker throttle response while reducing interference from the stability control system, bypassing the ‘quiet’ valves in the exhaust system, and raising the rev limit for very brief periods of time.
Lotus also brought a standard Evora to New York which is now available with the automaker’s new automatic gearbox, developed in-house in Hethel. With six speeds and paddle shifters, the IPS is capable of being driven in either manual or automatic mode, with a sport automatic setting also available.
Pricing has not yet been determined for the U.S.-spec Evora S, but rest assured we’ll be driving one soon and giving you the full report as soon as we do. U.S. deliveries are expected to start in late summer.
