Land Rover confirmed that the Land Rover LRX Concept that debuted at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show in January has been approved for production, and will emerge as the 2011 MY Range Rover.
This Rover is built on the same platform as the Freelander, yet it is the smallest and most compact option of the Range Rover line-up. While the concept featured 2 doors, the real-deal will have 5-because luxurious or not, this is an SUV and doors are an integral part of its convenience and rugged usage. Also, the front bumper has been slightly revamped from the concept version. Other than these and perhaps some minor tweaks, the basic design elements of the LRX concept will make it into production.
The more diminutive and less obtrusive 2011 version is the brand’s most economical and environmental option to date. Some of the green bragging points include a 150 g/km of CO2 emissions, or an astonishing 50 miles per gallon highway.
As the concepts continue to evolve, there is hope toward even more drastic improvements, such as 120 g/km, which would boost fuel consumption to an even more incredible 60 miles per gallon. The company is confronting the need to steer away from traditional specs, and to evolve into a future of continuously greener methods of manufacturing and operating.

The concept for this one-of-a-kind Midnight Rider Tundra Tailgater by Brooks & Dunn was developed through Toyota’s partnership with Brooks & Dunn. Inspired by the music duo’s large truck-devoted fan base, Toyota wanted to push the boundaries of bed utility and capture the imagery of the truck trucker. Built by The B.A.D. Company, the customized Toyota Tundra CrewMax Limited full-size 4×2 V8 pickup was a perfect fit for the ultimate tailgating vehicle.
The Ultimate Tailgating Experience® occurs when you slide out the tailgate, exposing a Grill N Chill® cooking area from Go! Products. The pull-out Grill N Chill features a cooking space with countertops, infrared barbeque, beverage tap and ice chest. An electronically operated tonneau cover enhances your tailgate party with a bed-installed 42-inch flat screen TV and sound system by Kicker. The sound system features a dual subwoofer system and a separate amp, four two-way speakers with tweeters and separate crossovers, and dual two-channel amps with separate equalizers and speaker control units.
On the outside, the Midnight Rider Tundra Tailgater by Brooks & Dunn features custom black paint treated with silver metallic flakes. The exterior is accented by custom western-engraved silver door handles, a front grille adorned with a chrome Brooks & Dunn logo steer skull, a chrome-accented steer skull tailgate handle, and a hand-tooled black saddle leather-trim tonneau cover surrounded with custom Brooks & Dunn silver conchos, all created by noted silversmith, artist and horseman, Clint Mortenson of Mortenson Silver & Saddles. Also added is a Brooks & Dunn license plate frame recognizing 20 years of hit music. The exterior is topped off with 20-inch Mickey Thompson “Classic Lock” polished aluminum wheels with 35-inch Mickey Thompson “Claw” off-road tires, Bushwacker bolt-on fender flares, a three-inch suspension lift, and Toyota accessorized chrome tube steps.
Inside, The B.A.D. Company complements the exterior of the Midnight Rider Toyota Tundra Tailgater by Brooks & Dunn with black leather trim seats and silver accents. Also added is a hand-tooled silver cupholder faceplate and custom saddle horn shift knob highlighted with a silver cap. The interior features a Toyota navigation system and rear seat entertainment. Audio was upgraded with Kicker speakers including one subwoofer, one two-way speaker with separate tweeter crossover in each door, four more separate tweeters mounted throughout the cab, and three amps with an equalizer.

Replacing the successful Discovery 3 model, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured offers the same legendary all-terrain capability and state-of-the-art protection, but features an upgraded specification to deliver superior levels of performance, luxury and style.
Compared to the previous model, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured offers a more powerful 5.0-litre LR-V8 petrol engine, improved passive safety with an airbag restraint system for driver and front passenger, and a more luxurious interior with premium leather seats.
Although virtually indistinguishable from the standard model, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured features ballistic steel armour and glazing which provides ballistic protection in accordance with European standards BS EN1522 level FB6 and BS EN 1063 level BR6 respectively.
Developed in partnership with the vehicle armouring specialists Centigon, it also provides blast protection against 15kg TNT (or equivalent) detonated in close proximity to the vehicle and under floor protection against two DM51 hand grenades. The protection offered was certified by QinetiQ®, a globally recognised independent blast and ballistic testing organisation.
The Discovery 4 chassis features independent air suspension, and modifications that include uprated air springs and retuned dampers, larger diameter anti-roll bars, and heavy duty Alcon disc brakes front and rear.
Like the standard vehicle, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured comes equipped with advanced four-wheel-drive technologies to deliver outstanding all-terrain performance. For enhanced performance, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Armoured is equipped with the new 375PS 5.0-litre LR-V8 direct-injection petrol engine, replacing the 2.7-litre V6 turbo-diesel used in the previous model. Teamed with a responsive six-speed automatic transmission, this refined and powerful new engine offers significantly faster acceleration, with 0-100km/h (62mph) achieved in just 10.6 seconds.
